'I have long been fascinated with one of the Buddhas teachings that the path to enlightenment lies between all opposite extremes, and thus all opposites are really reflections of the same basic energy. These paintings are designed to engage the intellect with the use of powerful figurative representations of emotional states. Simultaneously a direct communication with the subconscious uses a more symbolic and purely energy based language, through the juxtaposition of violently contrasting yet tonally identical colors, in order to express purely energetic ideas of balance contrast and harmony, which inherently underlie the emotional states.'
